The annual Balcairn Sporting Trial is an enormously fun competitive event for pre 1960 cars, where the object is to drive as far as possible through at least 6 challenging marked sections in amongst the grass & dirt humps, hollows and slopes of our host farm. The further you get through each section without stopping, the more points you will score.
It sounds simple enough – but don’t be deceived. This is a true test of driver skill as you try and pick the best route while controlling your car to maintain grip and momentum. You might even need a passenger or two to help ‘bounce’ you through!
There will be three classes for this year’s event, one for road going cars, and two for trials specials. Each class will have a winner. The points scored in this event will also contribute towards the Trials Championship, where points for similar events hosted by the West Coast, Nelson, Marlborough, and South Canterbury Branches will be combined to find an overall Trials Champion.
Family and friends are welcome to come along and join in the fun as we line each section and cheer and encourage each of the competitors. Gumboots recommended!
The event will conclude with an after-match noggin and awarding of trophies at the Anglers Arms Tavern in Sefton.
Full rules and regulations are on our forms page including a timetable and directions to the venue.
